Handmade Obi Belts in Leather
Obi style leather belts are inspired by the traditional Japanese obi, a wide sash worn with kimonos. In modern fashion, the Obi belt has become a stylish, statement accessory. I bought my first one in Rome, in my 20s, black calfskin leather. I have worn it with dresses and skirts on repeat for years. It just elevates every look!
The Obi belt was also my first step into leather goods as a designer. As a go-to item I shopped for as a stylist, the need for more belts, and more options kept coming up. I thought, “what if I made them?“ I sourced the leather, and made a pattern.
The classic design is a must for any wardrobe, and with each season I add new colors.
Each Obi belt is made to order, and can be altered for width and length as needed. Style it with a tie in the center or on the side. Passthrough for wrapping and zigzag stitch detailing. Italian Leather, available in multiple colors.
